Energy
Analysis
The Cooperative will provide a free energy use analysis of your home or business.
An energy use analysis can help identify ways to make your home or business
more energy efficient. Contact the Cooperative for more information or to set
up an appointment.
Time To Winterize Your Home
Performing an energy efficiency audit can determine where your home is
losing heat. The style of windows - single pane vs. double pane, cracks
around exterior doors, and maintenance of heating equipment should be
taken into account when cutting costs on energy usage. If properly insulated
and maintained, windows, doors and heating equipment can help obtain
cost efficiency during winter months. Double paned wood-clad windows,
or adding a storm window or an extra layer of plastic can protect against
heat loss. Weather stripping and/or caulking around doors also helps
stop cold drafts from filtering in. Remember that faulty appliances can
cause the unit to run less efficiently therefore running your energy
bill higher than it would if it were properly maintained.
If you feel you your bill is averaging higher than normal, Kit Carson
Electric can research your billing history to try and determine whether
or not there is a potential problem. If a problem is apparent, Kit Carson
Electric can perform an energy efficiency audit in your home. This is
provided as a public service to all members. Be prepared for the cold
months by winterizing your home. You will feel more comfortable while
saving money.
Security
Light Rental
KIT CARSON ELECTRIC CO-OP, INC. rents and installs security lights on existing
service poles. The monthly charge for the light starts at $11.30 and goes up
to $19.90 depending on the wattage of the light. Any applicable taxes are additional,
but the electricity is not registered on the meter.
Tree
and Brush Clearing
KIT CARSON ELECTRIC CO-OP, INC. conducts tree and brush clearing along the right-of-way
of distribution lines to provide safe and reliable electric service. This is
a legal right and responsibility of the Cooperative. Tree and brush clearing
is an essential part of the Cooperative's service. The Cooperative tries to control
trees and brush at an early stage of development before they interfere with the
lines. Keeping the trees and brush at a low level will decrease outages due to
natural growth interference. The cooperative regrets the need to cut trees and
brush, but it is hoped that members understand the need to cut or trim some of
their trees or why objects in the right-of-way must be relocated. Please contact
the Cooperative office before attempting to cut trees close to power lines. We
will cut trees in the right-of-way area. |
